New statewide bill recently passed in New Jersey requires the placement of a carbon monoxide detector in one and two family homes in accordance with the mechanical subcode.
On July 30, 2002 New York Governor George Pataki signed into law SB 475/AB 2424, legislation requiring the installation of carbon monoxide detectors in all new residential construction in the state.
After a recent rash of carbon monoxide poisonings - including incidents in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey -- the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is repeating its recommendation that every home should have a carbon monoxide alarm.
